Stupid feckin' mistake on my ticket - Etihad

    I've made a dumb mistake and spelled my name wrong on my ticket to Sydney (was distracted by something). It's an economy ticket and if don't change it I assume I won't be able to fly. Does anyone know if I'll be able to change it without buying a whole new ticket? I'm really, really desparate to change it... the flight's in September, but the earlier I change it the more chance I might have of fixing it.

    Ethiad might not be so harsh on you to change your ticket. Have you checked the website?

    How much is it spelt wrong?

    Paul = Pual?
    John = Michael?

    Coone = Cooney

    Thee website is way too vague about it, that's what worries me.

    This may sound a bit mad but here goes.
    When reading we scan the first and last letter of the word and fill in the rest given the context of what we are reading.
    A wrong last letter is therefore a biggy and far more likely to be picked up on than a middle one.
    Get a new ticket.

    Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

    Get a new ticket.

    Whatever you do don't even think about going running into buying a new ticket. If it was a 20 quid flight to Stansted I'd say yes but not such a long haul flight to Sydney.

    First port of call should be a search on their website for a contact number for reservations or something similar. If no Irish number can be found give the UK version of the site a go, all ethiad reservations staff will have access to the same information on your booking.

    If all that fails and your living close to Dublin, have a check to see who their handling agent is Dublin (eg Servisair, Aviance etc)and just ask and explain the situation to the staff at the ticket desk.

    I'b be extremely surprised if you cant get it changed free of charge, even more so given that ethiad is a full service airline.

    Contact reservations. Normally 2-3 letter mistakes are correctable. Ring them first :)

    Had two friends that did something similar, one with Air Canada, the other Aer Arann, both changed without any hassle.

    I once booked a flight for a family friend, Without realising In the drop down box I chose "Dr." instead of "Mrs". Was with ryanair and they were trying to charge €100 euro to change it. Obviously not all airlines are ryanair.

    Luckily no one screamed is there a doctor on the flight :D

    Thanks all, I changed it a few minutes ago with no problems and she put a note in that it's done. Thank god for full-service airlines :D

    With €600 in the balance I was a bit nervous after dealing with Ryanair type airlines!

    cool that it's sorted.. would have been surprised if it was an issue considerin it's clearly not a name change

    it is refreshing when an airline views you as a customer rathr than a revenue stream.

    TBH, most airlines i've used have been reasonable

    I booked my mums flight one time not so long ago and put in a wrong letter in her surname. Airline/Security weren't too pleased, but let her through. I can safely say I know how to spell the name properly now - but its confusing having had my dad's surname all along, and my mother still uses her maiden name on her passport!!:rolleyes:
    (Mind you, I can't talk I've had to change mine back to maiden name for official reasons - and hope I wont book it in the wrong name someday!!)

    Incidentally I also changed a flight time with Ryanair today and it costed me half more of the total cost of the flight!! RIP OFF!! But the extra few hours kip before the next mornings early flight will be worth it I guess, but just wish there were more airlines to compete with them.
