Low Paid Office Jobs?

I've been working in offices since November '07 and just recently got let go of a credit control job after 11 months. Just wondering are there many people on boards applying for the < €25k jobs and if there's much hope? I know obviously there's plenty unemployed and looking with no success but maybe they're looking for specific jobs so I'm just curious to know if I should apply for jobs in retail, etc.

    Cheers.

With 87 views and no replies I think I can hold off applying for retail work and focus on office work for the time being.

Maybe everyone in retail is employed and has no time to moan about it on boards?

    abit harsh on the op!

I would say apply to everything. if you have no qualifications then you need to be applying to everything and anything. Its not a great time to be picky.

I probably didn't explain myself well enough.

Usually when you get let go from a job you spend the first few weeks at least applying for your preferred work. When you realise that's very hard to come by you start applying for jobs in different categories that you wouldn't normally have applied for. To save me a few weeks I'm wondering whether I should just go straight in and apply for any and every job going.

    Cheers jon.

You'll find that things are hard anyway and you'd probably be better off applying for everything from the start.

If you have worked in an office job Mon-Fri 9-6 for 2 years you'll find it really hard to get used to retail hours.

If you find a full time retail job which are like hen's teeth, you could go for months with out 2 days off together. even if you do get 2 days off it would prob be Sun and Mon.

I take it you don't know anyone in retai, but if you do most will cite the hours and the customers as the down sides and if your coming from an area where you didn't have to deal with either you will find it very difficult.

Saleries vary widely, most position start on €9.30 and above per hour.

At €25,000 and above you could be looking for a managers job which would be hard to go for if you haven't been involve in people management before.
Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear.
