Shipping Car Parts From UK

    Hi all,

Just bought some car parts from a private ebay seller in the UK, i.e. not a company selling wheels or the like. The part in particular is about 2m X 0.5m and heavy-ish. It was sold as 'collect / organise your own courier' so I have to get it picked up and delivered to Dublin. The dude is located in Manchester. Any advice on how to go about this with an 'oversized' package like this would be greatly appreciated!

I have heard of Paisley Freight mentioned on other forums for stuff like wheels (I think). Never used them or know what areas they cover. Otherwise I would have a look at sites like parcel2go or maybe get a price with DPD.

You could PM Cormie, he does deliveries and from his comments around here some times, I got the impression he does UK trips from time to time.

I've had a bid from a company to deliver an FTO bonnet from York to Galway for £36 including VAT, hopefully I'll get a few more bids and it might work out even cheaper.

Thanks for the recommendation, however, with something small like car parts, you would probably find a much cheaper price elsewhere. I specialise in urgent/important/valuable dedicated van load deliveries where an appointed collection and pick up time is required with a same or next day delivery service. I could only ever compete if the collection/delivery point is near an already booked route. As my business is relatively new, I would only be going once every 2 or 3 months so it would be rare but perhaps worth a pm :)

Thanks Cormie, all sorted through BOOMSTICK's recommendation!

    Cheers anyhow dude!

It's handy enough, even handier if you've purchased off ebay coz they can calc the address, etc. Just enter details, wait for quote, choose best one (hit accept button on preferred quote), pay deposit (£6 in my case). Then they contact you directly for exact shipping details and you pay balance. All looked pretty simple to me. That said I haven't got the part yet so I hope all will be ok! let ya know when I do! Thanks again for the link dude!

Ah grand, thought it would be something like that. Thanks.

Seemed like it could save a few us some euros so I said I'd post it up anyway.
