I have a 'sum' placed in a cell in Excel which shows the VAT figure when the other prices have been input. But I'm trying to get that figure Rounded down to the nearest €.

    I have - '=SUM(I45:I50)*21.5%'

and have tried '=SUM(I45:I50)*21.5%,rounddown(number,0) which it seems to be telling me is the solution, but it's not working.

    Any ideas guys?

    Would it not be

    =rounddown(FORMULA,0)

    and that's it?

    =ROUNDDOWN(SUM(I45:I50)*21.5%,0)

Or you could select the cells, right click > format cells > number > decimal places = 0

    /edit
sorry, that rounds up or down to the nearest number, not just down...

That seems to work. Thanks Random. :)

    lol..

I have just checked an invoice I received and the VAT wasn't rounded down, so I guess not.

May as well scrap that formula then. :(

    Thanks anyway. :o

When invoicing you for my wasted time would you like the figure rounded up or down? ;)

    Yeah, down please. Sorry.

May come in helpful for future use of other boardsies. ;)

God bless your innocence if you think that any tax is rounded down.

Yeah, guess it was a bit of wishful thinking. :o

You can round down VAT. I do it all the time and have done so for years without any problems. :)
