I'm sure this must happen now that tickets are scanned rather than torn. Has anyone bought a ticket outside a gig (either of a tout or anyone else) but it had already been scanned and thus useless to you ?

Hasn't happened yet ( touch wood) but between this and those poxy tickets you print yourself, they seem to be trying to make it easier for touts and scammers!

I haven't been done, but I have seen some great ones.

U2 playing in Chicago @2002. Someone was driving around the area near the arena in a gold Lexus was selling General Admission tickets for at or near face value ($50-$75).

U2 were playing five nights and the tickets all looked identical except for stars on either side of the bands name on the ticket.

    *U2* - first night
    **U2** - second night
    ***U2*** - third night

    etc........

So people are queuing up for the GA seating area (where you could sit inside the 'heart'' - see U2 Live in Boston DVD) and are walking up and gaining admission with these tickets (they weren't scanning at this time).

One of the young kids working the door asked why one of the tickets was 'misprinted' and pointed out the mistake that for the opening night, there were two stars instead of one.

Well at the end of the day there were over 250 tickets sold that were counterfeit, and all sold by the same person in the gold Lexus, who made in the area of around $15,000 on the day.
