Not sure if this is the right place to ask this:

Is it possible to mark a granite counter top by leaving a hot pot on it?

Lived with a granite top for two years and no pots even just off the high gas mark ever bothered the granite.
Citrus from fruits can apparently, especially lemons. Another counter top i saw stained was stained from tea bags left on the same spot time after time. Think this top was more a stoney finish rather than polished granite.. Moved house still miss the granite!

Shouldn't stain if its real granite not like that absolute sh1te that they form over your already existing counter tops which is re-constituted granite.

The only damage I've ever seen done to a granite top was a break where the sink was cut out.

Not a chance. The pot would melt before the granite :D
cillit bang on the other hand could ruin it

Its strange. We have a pot ring on the granite, close enough to the sink.
