Mum has managed to lock her keys into the boot and we have no spare set. We just called Mercedes 24hr support there and they are sending a technician out soon. How much do you reckon this is going to cost?

    Are you in the AA.

This happened to my bro in salthill on a sat night.

He was calling a locksmith, I called out the AA as its the member covered, not the car.

They opened it in 20 mins.

I'd imagine free if the car is under warrenty as a goodwill gesture. Any idea how she managed to lock them inside?

If you break a window to get in then dont break one of the rear fly windows ( the one most people break first cause its the smallest and they think its the cheapest ). I think its bonded and ends up costing more to replace than any of the side windows ....I found out the hard way :(

    What type of Merc?

If its an older W124 I have a car opening kit that will open it.

Otherwise if the rear windows are not electric, with a bit of effort you might be able to get them open enough to get the good old fashioned cost hanger in and work on the rear window mechanism.

Where are you based? if in south county dublin pm me

Rang FBD breakdown assist and they sent out a local mechanic. After talking to the man Mercedes were going to send out i assumed it would be the equivilent of getting into fort knox. He didnt give him much hope of gettin into it.

Our man was into the drivers seat within 1 minute! I thought they new cars were supposed to be hard to get into! The seats don't fold in our car though so the boot took another while (30 mins) as he had to take off the number plate panel and fish around for a long time, but he got there eventually.

Another thing, the Alarm went off but i didnt even notice it was so quiet. I thought it was a neighbours car in the distance which had gone off coincidentally. Probably for the best though as it would have driven us nuts.

Lesson of the story: See if you are covered by your insurance before ever calling anyone out and even if its not covered try a local mechanic rather than anyone the Manufacturer will send.

BigKev, Pa Molan is your man if you're ever in need. ;)
