Buying a spare MacBook PSU from eBay?

    Hi All,

    Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these and what you think? A number of Hong Kong sellers in particular seem to sell the 60W MacBook magsafe PSU for about €20 delivered to Ireland, compared to the crazy €89 that Apple wants... They even look authentic, Apple logo and all.

    I was thinking of getting a spare because I'm getting fed up of digging mine out from under the desk but was wondering if the eBay ones are any good and most importantly safe?

    My experience with buying (dell) PSU's off eBay are that they are not authenitc, and the break after a few months. I stopped buying them because one of them caught fire. Lucky i was in the room.

    That's not good at all, think I'll avoid them then. House burning down > saving €60 or so...

    Apple4Less are the only eBay seller that I trust for such things. The company is based in Macroom, Co. Cork. They don't always have what you want listed on the site but if you phone them they're pretty good at sorting you out. I know two people that have purchased power supplies from them.
