I ordered a new Mac mini last week and it was shipped on the July 6th. The estimated delivery date is July 17th.

All previous hardware and software orders were received within 48 hours of shipping, which leads me to believe the Mac mini has been shipped from a further corner of the globe.

Did you select any customisations during the order process? In the case of my last MPB, I specified a bigger HDD so they shipped it from somewhere in the far east. As far as I know, if it had been a default/basic spec, it would have been shipped from Ireland. I could be wrong but I think thats how it works.

All Macs are manufactured in Asia. The standard spec models usually ship from Europe/UK. Custom configurations (bigger hd, more RAM, etc) have to be built (takes a few days) and then spend about a week sitting around in China/Taiwan before being shipped off to the Netherlands or wherever. Once it gets there you should receive it within 24 hours or so.

Standard configuration. I have 4GB RAM and a 500GB HD ready to install when it's delivered. :)

Could be they ran out of pre-configured in the UK and are catcing up on the shipping. Normallyships from the Far East, into Holland where the pallets containing the different machines are broken down, then handed over to TNT or UPS who will do the direct delivery to customer.

If they are normally shipped to the Netherlands from Asia and handed over the UPS & Co, what has "running out of pre-configured in the 'UK'" got to do with it?

Well obviously its not shipping from the UK with a transit time that length, therefore they may have to build up a stock of standard machines again.
It would then ship on the route they normally ship BTO machines, as described above.

It arrived yesterday. From the look of the tracking data it was chilling in the UK for a few days. Upgrading it now. :)
