Does anyone know how casual workers are taxed? If I were to hire random individuals for a few hours work a week, is there a threshold they need to reach before it needs be reported or can I pay them cash?

I think there is a threshold under which tax is zero (although employer PRSI may not be)

But really, employment, even casual employment, should always be through the books: if you don't do this, you can claim the cost of the staff as a business expense.
