Is anybody going to watch the two games on the weekend? I have never been to an Ireland match, what would be the average crowd?

Its lunch right now in the first game and Kenya put on 214 for 9. I reckon Ireland can claw that back and win out today!!

Saturday & Sunday could be reasonably well-attended - but you'll have no problem getting in! Enjoy.

The runs are gettable but having top 5 batsmen out isn't going to help, currently 161 for 5 after 39 overs.

just back from castle avenue. very small crowd. few more in bar watching the ashes. Ireland were chasing 210 or thereabouts. their run rate was four per over.

McCallan just hit the winning run. Was in the 49th over though so they were cutting it tight!!

The whole innings was held together by Porterfield, class act!!

Just going by what I read from the updates on the Irish cricket site it looked like we did a good job after a ropey start. Its important we keep the advantage over the likes of Kenya.

The intercontinental cup draw was a bit dissapointing after the excellent start on Friday but Kenya aren't a bad side and we still had the better of the draw.

Hopefully 2 more wins at the weekend will keep us on track.

I presume it is as easy of D/L?

    ICC ODI Championship

    Team Matches Points Rating
    Zimbabwe 32 736 23
    Ireland 10 190 19
    Kenya 12 0 0

I don't know how the odi rankings work honal but according to the commentary on the Irish Cricket Site today's win pushes us into 10th position.Really was a close shave. However we seem to have acquired the ability to get over the line in tight contests with other associate teams and the likes of Kenya.Bit of a break until the Scotland game now but its been another good year to date anyway.

A fantastic series victory. Ireland must be pushing hard for full and permanent ODI status. The only way Irish cricket is going to improve will be if we have a full time professional team!!

I assume by entering a team in the English league. seems a good idea.

Not a good idea, imo. We get better by playing better teams - international ones, not domestic. We should be playing ODIs against the teams touring England each summer, and be the 3rd team in triangular tournies in the winter. Sure, we'd be the whipping boys for a while, but the experience will stand.

why not try our hands against English teams first. its a full time league. Remember we are doing well at Twenty 20 cricket but over the longer games i think we might struggle.

keeping things on topic, i'd just like to say that kyle mccallan and kevin o'brien bowled amazingly at the death yesterday evening, kenya should have gone on to win but the last 2 overs bowled by the lads were superb, allied to very committed fielding ensured the win. well done!

we have full ODI status for the next 3 years and provided we win at least 2 games against teams with full ODI status that will get extended automatically.

I know we have full ODI status. Thats why I said "full and permanent". Maybe you should read and understand peoples posts before trying to catch them out?

fairly poor crowd, can't have been much more than a couple of hundred (if that) there, more inside watching the dubs and then the ashes (including myself once monty came in :o )
me and a mate went and were pished off that our mates who'd travelled to nottingham to see the team in the world cup wouldn't hop on a dart and head to clontarf.
