Gmail crashing internet explorer?

Hi folks,
Recently, on my home PC, when I go to gmail, it hangs IE. It gives me the 'loading [EMAIL=".............@gmail.com'"].............@gmail.com'[/EMAIL] bar, which goes 'full', but then IE seems to hang. Eventually, 3 or 4 minutes later, I get the 'IE has encountered an error and needs to close' blah, blah...
Its not my account, since I can log into my account from my work PC just fine. All other sites seem to work fine.

Any suggestions on what is going on, or anyone else have this?

what version of IE are you using

I run into errors all the time on the work computers(because they use IE). It could be a scripting error, IE can handle some features badly. Is it updated/latest version of IE?(You can get the most up to date version in the windows updater).

have you google chat or talk enabled?

...cookies and history cleared, still no better.
Google chat is enabled, can that cause problems? Problem is I can't get 'in' to gmail to turn that off! Is there another way?

In any case, I looked and found out I am only on IE6, so maybe updating that will help...
will do this over the weekend.
