    Hi,
Just gonna hire a car to drive from Switzerland over northern Italy and into Slovenia next week.

I don’t know much about Slovenia so was just wondering if those of you who were there before could let me know of
    · The nicest cities
    · Beaches
    · Safety
    · Best deals

Just bearing in mind that we’ll probably have only three full days in Slovinia itself and will be driving.

    Thanks

Slovenia has a lot going for it, magnificent scenery, friendly people and it was not too expensive. It is way underrated. I had no concerns whosoever about safety.

Be aware that not all car rental companies automatically include Slovenia as a place you can bring a car to, check this. There is a relatively short area of sea, but there some nice places there including Venetian towns, I am not a beach person. Other things of interest include the some of the largest caves in Europe, Postojna caves, which are an hour East of Trieste. The area around Bled and Bohinj is nice, Ljubljana is well worth a visit, it is not so big, more Cork or Belfast sized than Dublin, so a day or two will do it justice.

Slovenia is great, people are really nice and there is plenty to see. We went to Ljubljana for a long weekend, and it was enough to see the whole city. I would definitely recommend visiting it. We stayed at the CityHotel Ljubljana, and apart from its great central location and affordable price, it had an amazing breakfast.

Otherwise I would agree with the other post that Postojna Caves are great, and especially lake Bled (http://www.bled.si/en/default.asp)

We have had absolutely no safety concerns anywhere in Slovenia. Oh and the food is great!!

Hi, Slovenia is amazing!! Stayed for four nights at lake Bled and loved it. Everything in Slovenia is just so beautiful, if you go to Bled go on the emerald river adventure with 3glav adventures, they bring you all around the country and you go hiking and rafting and all, great day out! Ljubljana is nice too! Felt very safe there, you will love it!

+1 on Lubjiana .. nice spot, great food. Same goes for Bled, which is loooovely.

If you are heading for the (tiny) coast, I'd recommend Piran, it's the cutest of the 3 or 4 towns on the sea. We spent 3 very nice days there and can't recommend it enough.
