    How ya folks
    i have a pretty decent hybrid bike that has a set of 700x42 tyres on her and just wondering could i go down as far as 700x26 on it

    That depends on the rim, maybe you could measure that?

    Each rim will have a range of tyres that can fit on it. Sheldon brown has a chart for that. But most rim manufacturers will have too. Any idea of the make and model of the rim?

    the bike is a claud butler urban 200 and here is the info of the wheel from the site
    Alloy 700c double wall rim with machined side wall equipped with alloy 36 hole quick release hubs.
    Kenda Khan with K-ShieldTM puncture protection 700x40c town and trail.

    You need to check the rim width. Having said that 40/42 to 26 might be pushing it, 28 might be a better bet. Most hybrids with 40mm tyres have quite wide rims.
