Black Fedora Hat

Bit of a strange request but my brother and I are going to a fancy dress at the end of the month as the Blues Brothers. (He's the tall one and I'm the round one before you ask!)

Rather than rent a costume, as it's basically just a black suit and tie, white shirt and a black fedora hat, we'd rather just buy the various pieces and keep it for future fancy dress parties.

The only problem is trying to find a good hat. All I can find online are cheap Blues Brother sets made out of plastic or polyester that look nothing like the hats from the movie which is pictured below.

Does anybody know some shops in Waterford that might sell Fedora Hats? Preferably not too expensive either. I was thinking some of the second hand shops but if anyone has any other suggestions I'm happy to listen.

Black Widow on barronstrand street might do them, Simon usually has that kinda stuff in.
You could also look in debenhams upstairs

If you wanted a real fedora (and one that will last you for years) I reckon that you'd either get someone like Fitzgerald's menswear to measure your melon and order one for you or you'd end up going to Cork or Dublin.

Wouldn't quite have the budget for that I think.

Looking good in the pic! I'll try there and maybe Partyworld in Tramore.

    I have found two online.

    and

Just trying to decide do I actually want a decent hat that I might wear again. Or just a cheap and cheerful one.

Cheap and cheerful one is grand for indoor/night settings. With a bit of drink no one notices the cheapness of the hat. I'd buy the cheap one first and see what it's like if I was you. If it gets nicked on your night out, if you give it away to some lady or if some kleptomaniac woman (quite a common thing) takes a shine to it........who cares!!!! get another cheap one next day :D

Black tie cost me 10 euro in some cloths shop.
I forget how much the hat and glasses cost me but all 3 cost me less than 25 euros I think.

That is only photo of me doing the blues brothers. Person who took the photo wasn't the best at taken photos. I've never seen the blues brothers film would you believe. I was best man at my friends wedding and he was a big blues brothers fan. So when the DJ kicked in at midnight I had it arranged for him to start the disco with the blues brother music and that got the party started. Went down well.

The film is great. Crazy, but great. Well worth a watch just to see what all the fuss is about. The Blues Brothers music is fantastic. I'll have my harmonica at the ready on the night of the party!

Back to the hat. Went to Balloonatics and started laughing when I was shown the hat they had. Shiny plastic with some cheap felt on top! Then I went to Nomac and the only hats they had were a rubber/foam type. Apparently most of their fedora hats are gone out to some show. So it looks like I'll buy the cheap and cheerful hat for now, find a skinny black tie, cheap pair of glasses and hope I still fit into my black suit! :D
