    generally what do people favour
is it true that graphite shafts should only really be considered if you've got a slow & very controlled swing or are an auld fogey?

Graphite shafts can suit some players, especially those with a nice tempo, I found that it took me a long time to even get used to them in my 3 wood or rescue club. A low hc friend has them in his irons and they suit him, but I found I couldn't get the swing speed consitent with them. I prefer steel shafts for now. I'm sure graphite will gradually replace steel long term for everyone though as they develop different lay ups etc.

A few years back grahite in drivers was for old fogeys too but thats changed a fair bit.

Are you considering graphite because of weight reasons? There have been so many advances in steel shafts in recent years. Nippon have a good range of shafts that are under 100grams.

They seem to have them in a lot of Titleist irons at the moment. Lighter weight than the Dynamic Gold for example, while still maintaining a level of control.
