Whats the story with having guests? Staying overnight and that?

Fill out an application form on dcu.ie before midday of the night you're having the guest. They'll email you back letting you know if you're "successful" in your application. Print off the email, and show it to the security lads when you're bringing whoever back to your place that night. Your guest will also need some sort of ID. There's also a €5 charge to cover administational expenses (lol) that you also need to pay, but I'm not entirely sure when you do that.

In other words, it's complete bullshít.

or just dont do that and get in before midnight or maybe 11, some bs like that. if its a quiet night ie weekends or not a dcu drinking event on you'll probably get away with it as well as secruity might not bother checking or dont live on campus!

Wtf? Haha, Trinity Halls website just said you had to have your guest sign a register and whatnot.

I'm probably going to DCU so I think I'll just get a couple of friends and rent quaint old terraced house. We can have piano sing-songs every night, drink wine and make rude gestures to symbols of the establishment.

    College will be fun :).

For anyone applying to accommodation around DCU keep in mind those rules are only for on campus. If your looking at Shanowen Hall/Square etc etc they have their own rules, but they are far less strict than on campus.

The 5 euro charge is a bit of a joke, I took that up with them a couple of years ago and they went on about it covering the cost of someone having to compile a list for security. Considering you fill out the form online, all they should have to do is print it out.

ah but it would be open to so much abuse. I could invisage roughly 20 or 30 applications coming in from Larkfield every night, although im sure those who were serious about it could apply plenty in advance to my claim could be argued against.

Either way, its just another DCU expense.... :(

Having too many applications shouldn't stop them doing it, everyone's entitled to have guests after all. (although i see your point)

the nights of any of the Balls in the Hub would probably have hundreds of applications. Otherwise, I doubt its too many. It would turn into an absolute lottery, one would have to go down perhaps weeks before any big night, mystery bus tours etc....
