    Hi,

The first Poker Room golf classic will be held at Lucan Golf Club on Friday the 31st of July.

It costs €45 to play, which includes green fees, a meal back at the Poker Room in Celbridge and thousands of euros of prizes. (prizes to be announced closer to the day but they will be good.)

I have booked time at this lovely course from 3.40p.m until
    4.25p.m on Friday afternoon.

So this event is capped at 32 players.

There will be prizes for best scratch score, best handicap score, longest drive on the long par 5, Closest to the Pin on two of the par 3's along with lots of other fun stuff. Might also have some 4 ball competitions and a team event. If you have seen something you like at these events please let me know and we might add it in.

This event is for poker players so you need to be a member of either poker room or a know member of Poker boards community. (no hustlers please)

In order to ensure that this event has good numbers in order to play please come in to either Tallaght or Celbridge with your €45 and that will secure your entry also if you could please give us an accurate handicap that way we can try and put players of the same standard together where possible. Strictly capped at 32 so don't hand around.
    Please don't inflate your handicap!

This will be a great event with just enough competive edge to make it intresting but with lots of fun.

The golf course has a dress code which i will post here when I have it. Usual golf attire I am sure.

After the golf there will be a meal back at the Poker Room in Celbridge and a prize giving for the victors. Although there will be lots of prizes so we will all be winners :pac:

Any questions please ask but remember if you want to play get the money into either of the rooms.

    Many thanks

    Ross.

Ross, not complaining about "Thousands of Euro's" worth of prizes but just be careful about what you give away as golf prizes, the rules of amature status state that a prize cannot be worth more than 500euro. And that anyone must be able to buy the same prize for less than 500euro, so for arguments sake if your mate got you a 1000euro watch for 500euro because he works in a jewelers or something that would be against the rules.

The reason I mention this is that on more than one occasion I've heard of the GUI (golfers union of ireland) writing to the winners of such competitions telling them to either return the prize or else turn professional in order to accept it!

I hope to play in this. What format are you planning? Stableford Singles? Fourball? Scramble?

    Regards
    Ian

Pity I'm not closer, I'd def be up for this.

I have to ask dpt who could possibly enforce the giving back of prizes? I mean really?

Sounds ridic, you cant just run what you want and give away what you want??

Whats it got to do with them or how can they stop you??

God only knows but the way I'm told the story is basically you lost your amature status until such time as you returned the prize, not sure how it was inforced. Having said that, at €45 each, even if they didn't have to pay a green fee, thats a total prize fund of €1440, so unlikely to see a prize worth more than €500 for any prize.

As I said I'm not complaining but if they make sure to have a lot of small prizes rather than one or two big prizes then there laughing!

    Regards
    Ian

    Edit to Add:
mdwexford: It wouldn't matter to anyone who is not a member of the GUI, i.e. is not a member of a golf club and doesn't have an official GUI handicap. On the other hand, anyone who does have a GUI hndicap agrees to abide by the GUI rules, one of which is the €500 prize limit. The reason its there is to stop people giving away cars as hole in one prizes etc.

Also please note I'm not trying to put a dampener on Ross's event, I think it will be great, just making sure he is aware of the rule.
