Anyways, took it outta the box and booted it up. It booted up to the Windows Vista splash screen, but restared itself. Thought this was odd but went along with it. It did it a few more times, but I was too excited to really get angry. Anyways, I formatted the system to factory settings and the rebooting which was regular at first settled down to an occasional thing. It got worse after installing a Vista service pack update but it went back to being occasional once I did a system restore. The most recent Vista update causes this same problem too.

Anyways, last week I took it on the bus to watch a DVD on the trip. Sadly for me, upon playing the DVD, it would reboot, and simply would refuse to get more than 30 seconds into the DVD. Not even as far as the title menu. Also using the fingerprint scanner to log on to Windows can send it rebooting sometimes too.

I tried about a month ago to enquire about a repair or refund or replacement, but AcerDirect are a pain... their warrenty conflicted with Acer themselves, and it seemed like too much hassle. Plus their advice to format seemed to work. Turns out it didn't really. So I left it at that.

Any advice regarding my problem, or dealing with AcerDirect? Its still well under warrenty anyways.

    Thanks so much.

    JB

    Hi Jimmy,

My name is Mark, I work for Acer Direct.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the laptop we sent you. The warranty does rest with us on all Refurbished laptops and not Acer.

If you can PM me your sales order number (no other details), I'll get someone to contact you to resolve this issue.

Sounds like a thermal problem to me.
