    Hey all,
Im just wondering, are the tracks on sunroofs (VW Golf mk4) ok for putting grease on?
My father said that if there was any rubber in the mechanism that the grease would perish that, but I dont think I can see all the way down the track when the roof is open.

I dont want to be perishing my seals

    :p

So would anyone know if yer bog standard tin of Castrol grease will do the trick?
The roof makes a squeaking noise the odd time and Im in the phase of loving my first car so much every little detail has to be sorted. Im told once the engine starts falling out of the car and its time to pay for big services I wont care as much lol

    Thanks
    bbk

No answer for you, but a free bump. If you state the make/model of your car, it might help.

Use white spray grease, it comes with a thin straw nozzle and will be fine for the sunroof.
I would not use a tin of castrol grease, hard to apply in the right place.

WD40 would drip all over the place too.

I was careful and put a thin layer of grease only in the plastic tracks that the roof slides on and its much smoother now, just I cant get anything on the mechanism for when the roof flaps up at the back.

    Its a mk4 Golf btw.
