Redundancy Leaving date - Negotitable?

    Folks

Have applied for voluntary redundancy prior to going on maternity leave and have been given a leave date of 30/10/09 which is when I am due to return to work.

My question is what is the best way/is it possible to negotiate to have this extended to 03/02/2010 as this will

    a) bring me up to a full year for redundancy payment

b)more importantly bring me into a new taxyear where I can avil of full year of tax credits.

I am being paid my 3 months notice as part of the redundancy payment - but can I be kept on the books for these 3 months as well?

I will have about 12 weeks holidays as well - could these be used?

    Any feedback appreciated

Would that mean it's no longer a redundancy payment then? In which case the employer won't get any rebate, and you will pay tax on it. I might be completely wrong though.
