is there a huge difference and does it matter for us non-pro golfers.
thinking of up grading a 3 wood dont no if i should get it in stiff or reg.
right now i have stiff woods and reg irons just the case as ive had my irons a good fews years now and didnt even know reg or stiff when i was buying them....

Unfortunately there is no standard in golf, so one companies regular can be another companies stiff flex.

If you are anyway computer literate, and you knew your swing speed, what type of ball flight you wanted to achieve etc, you could go online to most shaft manufacturers websites and see where your speed falls into the speed rating of their particular shafts. There is quite a selection to be found.

After that, its all down to how much you are willing to spend, and finding a reputable clubmaker or pro to do it for you.

Why rule out "senior" or "ladies" shafts?

There are a lot of different variations and it's what works best for you......period.

Personally I'd use a hickory shaft if it worked for me.

As said above, there's no standard for a regular or a stiff shaft and although I haven't researched it I'd bet that a lot of stiff shafts are possibly close to "regular" flex (it's a macho thing again).
