There is an option in the settings menu to have it timeout after 5 seconds, 10 seconds and always on. Not too sure exactly where but most likely...

Services > System Setup > Banner / Guide / Display Timeout etc.

Is it a HD box you have?
This was a bug that was reported when Sky issued the new epg.
