    IGN 6.5/10

Oh dear, I was hoping this would be a Wii Sports 2 with all the added goodness of Wii motion plus but Aussie IGN just gave it 6.5/10. Usually anything under 7.5 is pretty poo. I guess I'll just get Tiger woods 10 with Wii motion plus and give this a skip

I would tend to look at a few reviews rather than just one, before making a decision. Not sure why you would base your choice of game solely on IGN AU.

Why not wait and read a few more reviews and Metacritic it?

I will probably get it, what I have read/seen so far looks good to me.

I will, only IGN AU is available at the moment. IGN are usually a decent indicator though and 6.5 is very low...:(

You could go to Official Nintendo Magazine review and it gets 94%.

But I think that might be from one extreme to the other. I don't think too many Nintendo published games have been on the end of a bad review from there!

I think it looks excellent. I was watching footage of it in the Co-Op video podcast and I can't wait to play it.

Here's what appears to be a pretty good review from a local chap:

    http://noaddedsugar.ie/?p=348

"Like the original, Wii Sports Resort is a wonderful fusion of hardware and software. Largely thanks to the terrific control enhancements enabled by MotionPlus, this time around the core gameplay has the depth to sustain your attention for much longer. Hardcore snobs will dismiss it as just another casual Wii game, but I suggest you don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. As a complete package, Wii Sports Resort might just make you fall in love with the Wii all over again- and, as the Wii moves into the latter half of its life cycle, the game will inspire dreams about what’s now possible with the enhanced Wii Remote. I’ll drink to that."

Anyone try the motionplus? Is it any good? I mainly use my wii for homebrew emulation, but this could be fun.

Just back from the shop having picked up Wii Sports Resort.

Looking foward to playing it. Think I'll have to go for the swords game first.

The Sword fighting game is the business!
The motion plus does seem to add accuracy to the remote movements.

Not to sure about the Frisbee competition! Whats the point?

A dedicated Sword fighting game that used the motion plus would be very good.

I got it a little while ago.

I find myself playing the Sword fighting and Table tennis the most so far.
Archery was good too. Not played all of the games yet.

Sword fighting is great stuff though. Especially the 3rd mode, which is an 'all against one' sort of mode.
Bloody good exercise if you use your two hands.:D

This motion plus thing is beggin for a Zelda game or some other sort of sword based game.

oh also, bought it in xtravision, the pack with the free motion plus, for €52/53.

Has anyone an idea where is cheapest for this? (without loyalty cards)

Just got this today, spent about 4 hours playing and think its pretty good. Spent most time on the sword fighting, basketball and canoeing games- its great fun, especially with a couple of mates around. Just getting into the other games, but initial reaction is very good.

I've only managed to play it today for an hour or so but the Sword games stood out as the most fun.

The bastket ball was weird. I started off getting the first 12 balls or so straight into the hoop and then I thought it was easy. As soon as I thought that I started to miss all my shots.

I think nintendo are really onto something here with this motion detect malarky
    :)
    Sword fighting is bloody brilliant.
The one player mode is the best, but the second mode, where you have to slice the objects in the right direction is a great 2 player game.

The wii is jest crying out for bushido blade for the PS1

Basketball is great fun, especially the 3 on 3 mode

Archery is alright, but if they adopted the same controlls for a darts game, it would be excellent

The cycing is rubbish as expected, the air sports isn't great unless you just like floating around aimlessly

Thhe wakeboarding and jet skiing aren't great either imo.

Table tennis is good, but I wish they put in an updated tennis instead of the updated bowling which isn't a whole lot different to the first version

Don't like the frisbee too much, but then I got bored of that playing tiger woods 10

HMV €44.99, is the cheapest I've found so far :)

    Definitely getting this sometime :)
Grand Slam Tennis though is taking up my time; except for when that stoopid annoying irritating bug that allows a double bounce and unreturnable serves online when playing against lag :(. It's not a gamebreaker because it actually works for and against, but it is soooooo annoying that I'm reeling from it and it caused me to go off topic:mad:

Back on topic, saw a demo of Swordplay in Gamestop, looked very very sweet...c'mon Lucas Arts!! Oh wait, hang on I forgot about Zelda.....

Am I right in saying you get some sort of discount in HMV if you have a student card? Oh well just after ordering it on Asdas website for €44 which is a good price. Cant wait till it arrives!

I love that bit actually, I've got about 70 of the "i" points found and it's a very chilled out and fun way to spend time after a hard days work.

The swordplay is amazing though, I'd buy the game just for that!
Hell of a work out though, who needs wii fit when you have this! ;)

I have the game just over a week and I've played swordfighting, airsports, archery and table tennis. I've gotton so far into the above modes that I haven't even tried the other sports yet but I'll get to them when I eventually get bored of the others....which may be some time given the fun I'm having.

I've said it on other forums but I think this is the best wii game this year and possibly the best wii game full stop. If they had some sort of FPS sport in it, it would be just perfect!
