I will be going on holidays to orlando and was hoping to visit the everglades also. Has anyone done this trip and what would be the best way to go about it?Bus/Car/Plane/Train?I realise that there is quite some distance between both locations so ideally would like to spend two nights in the everglades and then travel back to orlando.

outside of orlando the everglades system actually starts so you if you don't want to travel that far you can get a quick glimpse http://www.bcairboats.com/

everglades national park is south of miami so if your heart is truely set on that probably your best option is a flight from orlando to miami, its about a 6 hr drive from orlando to the national park entrance

As Rosie said, the Everglades actually start just outside Orlando and can easily be done as a day trip. We used www.airboatrides.com and found it excellent. We saw several aligators (spell!) and lots of other wildlife. I know this sounds awful, but I think the everglades could get boring if you were there for 2 days. I love wildlife and natural beauty, but I woud imagine the scenery could get a bit repetitive after a while.
