What do you do? Specific foods you eat on days running up to and on the day of a race, be it running, cycling, weightlifting or whatever your sport is. Copious amounts of energy is needed. Share them here guys, I need guidance.

I don't eat anything spicy the day before a race and I wouldn't be trying any new foods for the few days prior to a race.

On the morning of the race I eat my normal breakfast which is usually muesli or porridge. If it's an early'ish start I'll get up earlier for breakfast and maybe have a smaller breakfast than usual.

Essentially, I keep to my normal routine.

Unless you have tried and tested things long before you try them before a race. different people react differently to foods and as such what works for someone can be disaster for someone else. I myself have french toast morning of races and sessions but my partners end up throwing these things up

Poriage, musli and fruit for breakfast, and if its a late race Id do an easy 20mins in the morning. Plenty of water, 8hours sleep the nite before and Just try not to think about the race just relax, watch a film, be around friends

Pasta or lots of food good 3 hours before a race. After that sneakers and water :) and going to toilet 15min before a race. :)

Fluids: Ensure that you're well hydrated beforehand, and I'm not talking about last minute stuff.

Food: Avoid brown bread and the like the day of the race (day before if early morning race). Avoid fruits like prunes, citrus etc. Avoid proteins - take too long to digest. Eat something likght about 3 to 3.5 hours before the race - triggers peristalisis (need to crap) about 1 hour later.

Race: get there early, to allow time for everything, including the unexpected.

Warm-up: do an appropriate warm-up, including stretching & strides.

    Warm-down & stretch afterwards.

Yeah no spicy foods the day before. Its bad enough having it running out of you anyway without it stinging as it passes! Nice
