Garmin Question

Does anyone know what's wrong with my Garmin Edge 705?

The last two cycles I've done are on the device when I turn it on but when I try to import them to SportTracks they're not in the history.

I've tried resetting it but that doesn't work. I've gone through the settings but I can't find anything.

Be prepared to wait though..I had a corrupt TCX file query. I had to wait at least 20 MINUTES before it was sorted! :)

Make sure you aren't on the 2.7 firmware. That caused this exact problem.

    No I'm on 2.80

Do you reset the counter after each ride? E.g. after each ride press "stop" and then hold down "lap" for three seconds?

I pressed stop I didn't hold down the lap button for 3 seconds

Lap button tells the Garmin that the ride is actually over. The Garmin does this automatically when you plug it in after a ride but if you do two rides without plugging in inbetween, or pressing lap for 3 seconds, it'll think it was just one ride.

What Ryaner says, if you don't hold down lap (or plug in) all your rides will be saved in one TCX file. Garmin Training Center (and the device itself) may be able to seperate them out from the single file but SportsTracks has problems. You are also at much higher risk of getting a TCX file corrupted the bigger it gets, so reset after a ride.

I reset the device and deleted the last two rides from it. I cycled home yesterday evening but this morning I'm still getting the same problem when I try to import.

Have you tried a soft reset? If that doesn't work, try a *hard reset. Owner's manual

*: May lose all personal data.

I did the hard reset earlier, it deleted all the rides I had done but I don't mind that as I only have it a couple of weeks.

The same problem is still occuring, I sent Garmin an email yesterday but I still haven't got a response.

There seems to be a problem with the unit itself. I've been on to Garmin and they tried a couple of things and the same problem's there.

Now I've to send it back to them.:(:(:(
