I was thinking about this at one point myself never got round to it though, Neils old black was a goldtop originally, an early 50,s model I belive the neck pu has an ally cover and the bridge pu is from a firebird? I think, there was a guy who done some of these before, if you google it you should be able to find some good pics of his, keep us posted if u do decide to do it.

I will say that when I was looking at pics of the orginal it was very rough looking, there where rusted screws holding on the strap badly fitted ally bits etc. The black paint is a mat finish as well probably put on with a brush or a spray can. Anyway good luck with it.

look up the tone quest report. its an american magazine. on there website in a sample issue is an interview with larry crags, neils guitar tech, in it he explains why its hard to put a bigsby on a modern les paul, wrong neck angle apparently.

and its a firebird pickup in neils bridge and a p 90 in the neck.

    best of luck

Alan Sparhawk of the band Low plays a white one. His also looks like he has a P90 in the neck. His sound is also VERY crazy horse-ish in places.
