As the thread name suggests lookin for opinions on budget range AK's, more so the AK47 and Ak74 with real wood. Brands i was lookin at were JG, cyma and kalash. Lookin for pro's and con's between the brands.

    Any helpfull comments much appreciated.

I think the Kalash ones are supposed to be the most realistic. I have a cyma, which I installed a wood kit on, great gun, very reliable, front end is a little wobbly now though since I put the wood on, but the full metal/wood cymas probably don't have that problem. I have no experience with JG AKs but I'd say it's safe to asume the internals will be rock solid.

The older full metal CYMAs would have had better internals than the Dboys of the same age,i.e. pre-steel bodies. Brass bushings as opposed to nylon, better fit and mating, but the exterior wasnt as nice as the Dboys

Nowadays the Dboys have caught up and in some case surpassed the CYMAs, 7mm bearings & bearing spring guides as standard, which on paper looks good but when youre taking standard quality of the OEM parts they dont always hold up as well as element/systema/prommy ect.

They newer models from both companies also come with laminate furniture, which is more realistic, harder wearing and looks much better.

Dboys go together a la VFC, that is a more realistic takedown as opposed to the TM loads of screws job, but the newer steel bodied CYMAs are going this way as well.
This only makes a difference if youre sticking a RA-Tech GBB kit in or will be doing a lot of work on the internals, where ease of access is handy.

Avoid JG the internals a rough, poorly put together and ASFIK they have plastic bodies.

Just look at their take on the SVD compared to a CA or RS version....its a joke.

The Kalash one is supposed to be very solidly built with no wobbles (not even the stock) plus, its full metal and real wood and all for only E160. Great value.
Although, it comes with Dboys battery so you sould buy a firefox just to be on the safe side.:D

ddoys are always good, make shore you get the full steel versions, the newest cyma aks have been great, a good choose would be the cyma akm with laminated wood

cheers for the advice, have it down to either the ak47 "blowback" from cyma or their akm dx version

Wouldn't bother with any "blowback" nonsence if avoidable.

Kalash are the way to go for the ak74 series, by far, get a full steel model if possible, it will have stronger parts, great internals and proper laminated wood, which is a joy.

I did a review of the aks74 full steel if you search for it, i covered the inards also.

Try for a VFC style ak if you get a cyma, more realistic build and later model gearboxes, but with some pot metal unlike the full steel club/bludgeon/anvil that is the kalash steel models.
