Record labels vs BT & UPC

As previously discussed, the four major record labels obtained a settlement from Eircom in which Eircom agreed to implement a "three strikes" policy based on the music companies identifying the IP addresses of those alleged to be involved in filesharing copyright works, as well as agreeing to block access to sites hosting such content.

On Monday, they started proceedings against BT & UPC who (quite rightly) have refused to implement the terms of a settlement in which they were never involved. According to the Irish Times report, the two ISPs are contesting the case, so let's hope they stick to their guns and take this to a full hearing.
