Test date

I have been waiting 8 weeks for a date for my test and the average waiting time for the test center I applied to my test at is 10 weeks. They said on the email that I would 'notified of your test appointment date 4 to 5 weeks before the test date'. I know the 10 weeks is only an average but im started to get worried that they have failed to tell me about my test. I chose the option to be notified by email rather then post as I dont what my family members to know when I would have my test. I tried emailing them but they have yet to reply and that was almost a week ago.

As you already know, 10 weeks is just an average so waiting times could be a good bit longer in some cases. I wouldn't worry about it, just be patient.

Don't worry I applied for my test in March and still haven't heard anything back from the RSA even though the website said there was a seven week waiting list! Some test centres just take longer to process all of the applicants.

Wilton test centre for Cork City has an 8 week average waiting time but it took 17.5 weeks for me to get a date so don't panic just yet ;)

I think the whole system is a joke. I got a test date recently for July 1st, I couldn't make that date due to work,so I emailed them to ask for a new date after the 1st.A few days later I got a date for June 29th! Anyway I was able to do it on 29th and passed.
The funny thing is, yesterday I got a letter from them saying they had received my cancellation request and will process my application etc. The letter was dated the 9th June!!! It seems to me that the whole process is a complete mess, with one side of the RSA (ie. cancellations) not knowing or caring what the other side (applications) is doing. So I emailed them again telling them this so hopefully that will free up a space for someone. Probably not though......

I applied in Churchtown/Rathgar at the start of June and still haven't heard anything. I assume that when i do hear from them there will still be 4/5 weeks before the test date?
I think i will need this time to practice on the route ( as i haven't driven in either area before) and practice in general. Anyone have any opinion on how important it is to drive in the area your test will be?

9 weeks and still no word from RSA about my test and no reply to my email either. I had a lesson today and was talking to my instructor about it saying that I want to have it before I move away again for college in September and he said if I didn't hear anything by next week to ring them asking to have it before September and if I failed I could always apply for a cancellation.

While I was doing my lesson I seen a girl doing her test and it pissed me off as I want to get it over and done with at this stage.

Op, you think that is bad. I applied at the start of april for wicklow and i am still waiting. that's about 15 weeks. I was told i should receive word in the next few weeks. Sometimes i don't mind because i want to keep putting it off because of nerves but i just have to get it out of the way, pass or fail.

Finally I got a reply from them.
I apologise that the RSA website has quoted the incorrect waiting times for a test in Dundalk. The current waiting list is 14 weeks.

So technically I should get a date soon.

Replied back asking if I could do my test with only a week or so notice because I am just sick of waiting like I feel ready and I want to have it before I go back to college in September.

Whoop I got a date, 26th of August.

I am actually relieved to get a date and on the off chance I fail I will have 3 weeks to do it again before College will get in the way.

I basically applied for a cancellation by emailing a woman called Joan, She sent me an email 20mins ago I replied about 5mins later and then about two minutes later I got a phone call from her asking if I could do it on the 26th.

Now to book a licence with my instructor.

Must make sure that I dont let that date slip to my friends or family just in case I fail, dont what everyone knowing I have failed.
