HELP PLEASE....

I GOT A DELL LATITUDE D600 AND ALL I NEEDED TO DO WAS GET A NEW MAIN'S CHARGER AS OLD ONE BROKE.THE LAPTOP HAD BEING LYING UP ABOUT 6 MONTHS BEFOR I GOT IT AND WASNT IN USE,HENCE HAVING TO GET NEW CHARGER.NOW THAT I HAVE IT AN PLUGED IT IN,WHEN I TRY START IT,IT LOOKS LIKE WINDOWS XP IS LOADING AND THEN JUST WHEN IT SHOULD COME ON IT GOES TO THE SCREEN WITH THE OPITIONS,START WINDOWS FROM SAFE PLACE.IM GOING BONKER'S HERE TRYING EVERYTHING THAT I CAN,I HAVE THE UTILITIES CD,BUT IM PURE STUCK,ANY HELP AT ALL WOULD BE GREATFULLY RECIEVED.

Is it presenting you with options to start windows in safe mode? It hard to decipher what you mean.

if you can get into the recovery console run chkdsk and set it to repair errors you can also fix the master boot record here, then try reboot
