    Released: June 1972

A seminal album - one of the most influential and iconic there is, with some great singles and featuring one of rock's most under-celebrated musicians, Mick Ronson.

Light years ahead of it's time, this is Bowie's masterpiece and one of the greatest albums ever made. One of the earliest 'Concept Albums', every song on it could have been a single - 'Moonage Daydream', 'Ziggy Stardust', 'Star Man', 'Suffragette City' and 'Rock N Roll Suicide' - this could be considered a greatest hits.

I agree with Dudess, Mick Ronson is continuously, criminally over-looked - the 'He played it left hand' line in 'Ziggy Stardust' was a nod to Jimi Hendrix, but Bowie has his own guitar god here

Bowie's masterpiece, IMO. From the opening 'Five Years', it's obvious that something special is going on. I was never really a huge Bowie fan, but this got me into him, though I'm probably still more a fan of this and a couple of his other releases than of him per se.

I'd also agree that Ronno was a criminally underrated guitarist, and will be sadly missed from the upcoming Mott the Hoople reunion.

    What can I say.

    I come from a family of bowie-heads

My parents in particular are obsessed. - our dog is called Ziggy ffs. :D

The album is full of potential singles, and its easy to overlook the impact it must have had on music at the time

Rock and roll suicide is just one of those epic songs. It actually still makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Particularly in the context of this album.

It's the final human confessional that tops the album IMO. What an epic.
