Why would they be calling me?

Im on Job seekers allowance ATM, i was sent a letter for my partners boss to fill out and send back which he did. That was 2 weeks ago.

Today i get a call from my local social welfare office. I missed it but i called back and they said they would call me back. That was 12 o clock today. Its not half 5 and they are now closed.

Im worried now- dont the social welfare only call you if somethings wrong?

We have 3500 in savings in cred union that we never told them about (because i had been told by citizens advice that i was allowed have up to 20,000 in savings and it wouldnt affect getting social welfare)

That 3500 is towards our house deposit, my partner has 30 euro of his wages going in to it every week and im terrified they have found out about this money and are cutting my money.

That money is towards a deposit for a house its not for us to live on. We made major sacrifaces to save that money and im worried now they are cutting my money and expecting us to live on it. progress.gif

Would not be worried about the €3500 as you were told right that its after €20000 that it will make a difference. This is what i was told when i went for jobseekers.

I'd love it if they called me. I would kick their arses badly. 11 weeks and not a dicky bird out of them.

OP: dont fret about the €3500. You are grand. They might be ringing you to ask if you have been working, to arrange an interview.

I doubt it's your savings either. It may just be to clarify something on your forms or perhaps you missed out some section or even, as has been known, you forgot to sign the form.
Id say they would write to you if it was something major that affected your claim tbh

I dont think its got anything to do with your credit union savings... they might be ringing about your partners salary - that might affect your payment.
