Can I paint my dish?

A simple question. The house has an old Sky dish that I plan use for FTA and all that, it is the grey perforated dish type.

I was wondering before I hook it all up, if I might paint it. It is looking a bit tatty and a touch rusty. Can I paint it with standard aerosol paint? (Auto paint for instance). If it were primed with zinc paint would it affect it in any way? Anybody have any thoughts.

Yes. I painted my dish recently. It was very rusty so I used a paint that can be applied directly over rust. I gave it a quick rub down with a wire brush and used emery paper on the worst parts. A quick clean up with white spirits and applied two coats of paint with a brush.
No ill effects on signal strength or quality.
Cannot remember the brand of paint but it is advertised for painting railings and garden gates etc.

I've used Hammerite Smooth with satin finish on mine, works well.
