What Can I Use My Laptop For?

Hey Folks,

I have a Sony Vaio laptop that's not been getting any use as a while back I built myself a new desktop computer. The basic specs of the Vaio are a Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of memory, 120GB hdd (I can change this of course), an 8400GT and HDMI out. It has Vista installed.
I have a wireless router downstairs with a receiver and speakers next to the TV and a PS3.

Basically I'm wondering what I could use the laptop for. I have various external drives I could plug into it. We watch alot of movies, listen to music downstairs and I take alot of digital photos.

Attach all external drives, automate some stuff so you can make it a download hub (through news servers or torrents, nothing illegal mind! :rolleyes:) use it afterwards as a NAS to connect to as a photodump (maybe automatic upload to flickr / other photo dump website) and install nero media server of TVersity to stream the automatic downloads to your PS3, there are some news group programmes that can repair / unpack downloads automatically etc.

So short answer: NAS/media server

Alternative: Sell it to me for 350 as my GF is looking for a laptop :P

browsing in bed

use as a book-end or paper weight


and yes the HDD can be changed , usually fairly easily

you could play around with linux, dual boot with ununtu

setup an emulator for an old console

leave it in the bathroom for something to read

Overheal

Hook it up to the TV, get a 360 remote, and load up some Steam games. L4D PC is fun in the living room.
