    Hi everyone!
I'm very new to this, I'm hoping I can get some feed back on my problem.
My brother is getting maried in October and a few weeks ago in Dublin I went shopping and fell in love with a dress that I could never afford!
I'm going to Tailand in September for a few weeks and some people are suggesting that I get the dress made over there.

Has anyone ever done this? I think its risky, there are so many "what if's", I would be so gratefull for any advice, if any one could reccomend a dress maker in Bangkok or Ko Samui? Even if anyone has advice on what not to do!

I really look foreward to hearing back

    Thanks!
    Meg

meg, there are loads of dressmakers/tailors ova there. My X had a couple of suits made while we were ova there and the quality was great. they are all made to your specifications....you gotta know wot u want though as they can be a wee bit "behind the times".....they measure you,you tell them what you want, pick the material and go back in a few days to get it.....some of the materials are beautiful. I can't recommend any but as you will see when u get there...they aint hard to find....gud luck

My cousin got a beautiful dress made from a thai dressmakers that she found on ebay, she just gave her measurements, picked the dress and colours and it came within a few weeks!! It was made perfectly and fitted her like a glove!
My brother also got a suit and shirt made in thailand last year for my sisters wedding and it fit perfectly and really looked the business!!
I would say the fact that your going to actually be there to pick out the materials etc is a great help too! I would definitely go for it! Try and get as many pictures of the dress as you can, maybe try on the dress in the shop and take some pictures from all angles!!

Howdy,if you get sneak a photo of that dress that you love then most tailors or dress makers in Thailand will be able to replicate it a very high standard.Show them the photo, get measured, pick your material and although it wont be the exact same they're usually very close.Be prepared to pay a small deposit and always haggle. If you dont like it the worst that can happen is that you lose your deposit.unfortunately I cant remember any names in Thailand I got all my suits(I'm a lad and I'm talking bout dresses :P ) in Vietnam but I did meet loads of people all over Asia who done what Im saying and were over the moon.

thanks for all the advice everybody, I just have another question if ye dont mind, first of all, material wise, what kind of a selection do they have? I mean am I going to be able to chose any material in any colour under the sun or will they just show me a few swatches and say "this is all we've got, you pick" and secondly, just a round-about figure, how much do you think it would cost?
