Interesting enough the numbers for this event with the women outnumber the men entrants 3-1

Brona Furlong progressed through the 400mh heats with a PB of 57.87.

Are we still on 100% qualification rate?

68.08 on her first throw and comfortably through. The form is starting to come. A 69+ in the final would maintain the momentum.

She's gradually getting near the 70m mark. The competition's a lot tougher in this year's WUG, with Betty Heidler, Hrasnova, teh Belarussian and teh Moldovan throwing over 70m too, but we'll see.

Yes, can't think of anyone who hasn't progressed.

Joanne Cuddihy qualified as a fastest loser from the heats of the 200m in a bit of a disappointing time of 24.54 earlier. But it's still good to see her back! Joanna patterson failed to qualify with 24.97.
Tom Carey failed to qualify from the 400mh semi when he finished 6th in a time of 52.08.
Brona Furong will take her place in the final of the 400mh in a few minutes! She has done extremely well to make the final...She's shown us that she's a true championship performer after both these games and the European Indoors this season!:D

Brona Furlong 7th with 58.40 not a bad result for her at all!!:)

Hazel Murphy (4:20) and Deirdre Byrne (4:14) both through as automatic qualifiers in the 1500.

Everard up in the 800 but missed out by 0.12 to qualify.

Interesting the number of DCU athletes out there and doing well despite the system apparently not being very good up there;)

Ian McDonald through in 14.14. Great reaction time too, 0.142!

Everard just missed out on qualifying with 1:51:74, was 5th in his heat but would have won some heats with that. In the end just 12 hundredths off last fastest loser qualification

Fionnuala Britton was 6th in the Steeple in 9:54.

Interestingly, the men's 200m was won in a European Junior record 20.04 by Ramil Guyilev of Azerbaijan. That makes him second fastest junior of all time behind one U.Bolt.

    Ireland finished 4th in the women's 4x400m.
