DVD Drive not recognised

    Hi

I have a Dell Vostro 220 slim. I installed XP on it, and now the DVD drive is not working properly. It is recognized as 2 CD drives, rather than one DVD-RW drive.

The drive is a TSST-H653G. I have uninstalled, and restarted a few times to see if this would rectify it. I also searched for new drivers, but cannot find any.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

when you say it's being recognised as two drives, do you mean in my computer or within device manager?

Within my computer. If I put in a DVD, it is read as being in both drives, but if I double click on it, I just see the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders, but cannot play the DVD.

Ok that does sound like an odd glitch. Really should only be appearing as one. Can you open the dvd and play the video through the likes of Windows Media Player, or another dvd player software on the computer?

I can't play it in Win Media Player. If I select the drive, it shows the folders. VLC can play it, but is garbled and unwatchable.
