Can I report a drug dealer?

If I know someone is a drug dealer can I report them/pass their number or details onto the Gardai without any evidence against them? I imagine given that plenty of people must know drug dealers that it isn't that easy to actually just tell the cops and get the person arrested.

    Crimestoppers

Crimestoppers is a partnership between private industry and An Garda Síochána which operates by encouraging people to report a crime by calling a freephone number. It guarantees anonymity and occasionally offers cash rewards for information pertaining to specific crimes, at the discretion of An Garda Síochána. Crimestoppers is staffed by members of the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
Crimestoppers Freefone can be contacted at: 1 800 250 025

Yeah but what realistically will they do if all I can tell them is "I know this guy sells drugs"?

well if they ask you ''how do you know he is a drug dealer''
You can sat you saw him which is all they need . they will take it from there. They garda are laying down the law with drug dealers at the moment so they might know about him already. I say you should call them and see what they say. You dont have to even give them your name.

Good luck OP. I called up to my local garda station a few years ago to report that a car was pulling up in front of my house each week and selling drugs from the car. Damn that guy was sooo obvious. Turned out the guy didnt have to be subtle.........Im still waiting for the guards to do something.

I also reported (and photographed) a bunch of kids breaking my windows around the same time. I also had their names. I was told that unfortunately as a number of children were throwing stones at the same time it was impossible to know which child threw the actual stones that caused the damage!!!!!!! (This seriously cant be true)

This is a 24hr station in a large town, from dealing with severe antisocial behaviour over a few years I discovered that there were two guards and a detective willing to do their job. The good news is that with the help of the town council and selected counsellers the situation is sorted now.

Call to your local station and ask to speak to someone on the drugs unit. They're usually eager for a bit of info and tip offs. Bring as much info as you can.

To axel rose. Just be carefull about taking pics of kiids, no matter what they're up to.

Sorry for going OT, but there is no law against taking photos of people, regardless of their age as long as they have no expectation of privacy in that location.

Been there seen that done that!!
It was a long time ago, back in the 80s. they were dealing outside our garden gate. A guard told me way back then that the bail laws in the country allowed them back on the streets within days.. He said unless they are changed, its ground hog day. I think nothing has change with the bail laws since then(1984). The government been on another planet. Or maybe smoking that weed. Anyway My advise. Fup them. take them from you brain and move on.
