Hey - anyone been to Panama. Going for a week next month. I realise it's not alot of time but if anyone has any ideas please let me know,

I've heard Bocas Del Toro is a great place. Is this far from Panama city? Hard to get there?

I was in Panama a little over a year ago and only had a week there myself (excluding the San blas islands)
Bocas del Toro is cool.. the locals told me it has changed drastically.. it's gotten really popular so it's basically a party spot now..(nothing wrong with that though! - hard to find in CA) The beaches are hard to get to.. I'd check out Bastimentos if i were you.. It's a neighbouring island it has no roads, so no cars and once there (ask a local at the waterfront to take you) you can hike 30 minutes through the jungle to come to the beach on the other side which is kind of surreal.. think it's called wizard beach or something?

The san blas islands are the highlight of course but i doubt you'll have time. it's best to get a boat from panama to colombia and stop off on the way..

If in Panama city you'll have to see the canal.. Really really impressive yet very boring! We saw a submarine pass through and the biggest cargo ship it would fit and still wasn't blown away.. (as it takes hours for all this to happen) but as far as engineering goes, it's one to see..

I hear diving in Panama is great and read once that it has 40 species of shark...

Also there is another town i didn't make it to but people i met said it was greatcan't remember the name now but it's close to Bocas and in the lonely planet highlights... (central america on a shoestring)

I spent just over a week there. The city was nice but really humid. I cycled along the causeway which was incredibly beautiful. Went to the jungle type park there too.
But generally got out of there quickly to see Bocas. I stayed in a hostel with a trampoline in the water. It's that kind of place. Martini Monday was good fun, got taken in a tiny punt to the 'night club' which was a restaurant with the lights turned off. Good fun place.

Was there for a couple of days so I could get a new visa to enter Costa Rica again. It was so humid. I arrived there really late at night/early in the morning. Spent the three days sweating. The local Red Devil buses are cool. You must take some pictures if you can. They are these ancient school type buses that are all painted up and some blast out music as they go, boy racer type buses.
