    Hi,
What are the best websites for keeping up to speed as to what's happening in the IT industry in your opinion?

    Thanks.

wow, where to begin. er... what area of the IT industry, it's so vast.
Personally I'm a member of the IEEE, but I keep up on a lot of sites, rss feeds on Zdnet, Microsoft, Comptia Newsletters, BBC Techsite, Silicon repulbic to name a few.

Specify a bit more, what areas ya interested in :)

Also, the boards forums are pretty good for finding out new news. I've seen a few things here I haven't on tech sites.

Developer.com is pretty good too, has a decent news section (Edit - just noticed it is actually a seperate website Internetnews.com, not a section :)).

I was a member of the IEEE (Instistute of Engineers??) but left because I thought it was a rip off and got nothing out of it. It's good for Civil Engineers and C'est Ca.

I don't think that's the IEEE you're thinking of there. The IEEE has lots of different sections and is a global thing. You can specifiy if you're interested in communicaitons, electronics etc... and get the relevant newsletters or magazines.

You're possibly thinking of Engineers Ireland? I had applied for them (under a student subscription) but never got a response. So said feck 'em, getting a lot of info from other sites and the IEEE magazines anyways.
