I've just received my first cheque. Can I simply lodge these in my bank or post office, or should I give my landlord the 4 weekly cheques at the beginning of the month? Thanks.

Depending on whos name is on the cheques.
Usually you just hand the cheques over to the landlord or lodge them to their account when you are paying your rent.
Im almost certain its not your name on them however if it is, lodge them and withdraw it as cash to have to pay your landlord.

Thanks. It' s my name on the cheque, so I think I'll just lodge them and pay my landlord in cash as per normal. I don't think he sounded overly enthused at the prospect of receiving 4 cheques and cash every month.
