Dublin Registry Office

Hello, I phoned the registry office today to book our wedding for April 2010 :)
The date I wanted had already gone, and they have been taking provisional bookings despite not yet having the 2010 diaries. They took my details and the provisional date, but I forgot to ask when they'll be getting the diaries...has anybody else done the same and been smart enough to ask? I don't want to wait indefinitely in case they forget to call me back and we miss out - but I don't want to pester them with more phone calls to find out because they sounded really busy! :o

    I know, I'm silly.

    Cheers!

I also rang them today (not about April, don't worry) and they said they expect to have the diaries in 3 - 4 days.

Though I also rang them early last month and they said they would have them by July 1st :)

Last month they never told me they were taking provisional bookings, they mentioned it today but I'm still undecided.

Wow, I am suprised about this! We went in to them in mid January this year and were able to book our wedding for July 9th 09....ie this friday! Perhaps the recession is driving the number of bookings from 6 months out to 9 months out....

    They are quite busy.

It's worth noting that you're not restricted to your county/district. You can get married in any registry office in the country.

The Naas office is about 30mins from most parts of Dublin and they're all very nice there. If you can't get your date in Dublin, would be worth giving them a buzz.

Thanks everyone for your replies - I'll probably give them a week or two and then give them a ring to check whether the diaries are there.

I'd rather stick with the Dublin office if I can, just because it's easier for everyone to get from there to the venue, though it's reassuring to know there are alternatives... :)

I've been quite relaxed about things so far, but now there's the liklihood of pinning down a date...all systems are go! :D

Just an update for anyone waiting to contact the Dublin Registry Office - they've now got their 2010 diaries and are taking bookings. Ours is booked for April - yay! :)
