whats the verdict from any of ye that have used these irons and/or are familiar with them?

there seems to be a huge variety of versions out there (as is typical of TM) - should i just ignore this and go for a mid-range version

Yeah that's what I use. They're fantastic. Get the Project X shafts with them.

The irons I use are the Burner XD's. They are lovely clubs. Im more than happy with them. They are about a year old now and true to form by TaylorMade there are now new Burners out. Wont change mine for another 5-7 years yet though.

The new tour burners are approx 559. why not goto Fore golf or similar and get them custom fitted if your looking to get them. Or look for the TM tour truck dates and go direct to them.

Yep, he has a huge beard too. If you ask him nicely he'll let you blow his horn!

will he be parked outside mother hubbards or other such establishment / eatery and provider of fine dining experiences?

    this is interesting
can i bang a few drives down the motorway to see if the clubs work for me?

I'd bring cash with you though because if you're happy with the 400 yards you can get with a 7 iron bouncing down the N4 you won't be able to get cash out as the ATM was stroked a month ago.

McGuirks and Halpenny are selling the Tour Burner driver now for €129. Seems like a great price even compared to the UK online retailers. Noticed this on sunday and half tempted. I picked one up in the shop and it feels really light. TM are notorious for bringing out new stuff and even brought out a later version of the original Burner driver since. Just wondered if any one here uses the Tour Burner and what their thoughts are?

worth a go at 129 for sure

I got this driver last week in 10.5 degree. My old driver was 9.5 and I can't believe how much more forgiving it is with it's big face! Extra 10-15 yards also. So far so good ( touches wood) !

It does seem like a great price but was just wondering was there a reason for that? The shaft seemed very long too so would be curious to see anyones thoughts on that. Forgiveness wouldn't be a huge selling point for me because most of the drivers now, especially the TMs are fairly generous in that dept..

The price is purely down to supply and demand .
The golf equipment industry have mountain loads of equipment that they need to shift and the worldwide recession means consumers arent buying.
The Tour burner was launched in May 08 so its last years model and prices drop alot in one year, its a marketing farce.

In relation to the shaft ,all major manufacturer drivers are too long.
45.5 inches is too long considering professionals average around 44 inches and they are the best at what they do .
10 years ago the standard was 43 inches.
Its more marketing bull**** to try to say our driver goes further .
Its all marketing bull these days, most clubs are 2 degrees closed to offset a slice and most are 2 degrees more loft than stated .

Sayin that the Tour Burner is a fine club.
