I'm trying in vein to set up wireless broadband for a friend because the phone cable was cut up stairs but just cant get it going. I'm useing one of those Eircom netopia routers. I have wired set up grand but wireless just isn't happening. I've even tried disabling password/security on the netopia just to make sure I wasn't typing the wrong password. The Dell laptop is showing a full wireless signal but no web pages will open. I've run out of ideas as what to try so any advice on what to try would be great.I won't be over to try anything out for a few days. Its running XP pro and all drivers seem to be installed and up to date.

try resetting the router,I had to do that when I first ran wireless as I had all the problems you had and it worked after the reset

Yes the router is turned on.

Thanks Rebel, I haven't actually tried resetting the router manually with sticking a pin into the reset hole on the unit so I'll try that but I have reset it on the Netopia config page.

While most likely they are auto detected, make sure to write down the ISP connection settings before you do this just in case.
