This board seems a bit of a wasteland, but does anyone know this game/play?
Despite some notable flaws, our group has never had so much fun gaming, the setting and mood are unbelievably evocative.

    Hey,

I played this not so long ago for the first time. I must say I enjoyed the game - we had a hoot. Even if a few of us gained some rather unsavory and unsettling mutations.

I had all the books at one stage, and I flogged them. I was not all that keen on the rules. I was hoping it would be more like WFRP (which I'm currently Gming over Skype). It's a lot more convoluted imo. and I'm not mad about the Career structure. But the "fluff" is awesome!

If I was going to run Dark Heresy I'd probably use a faster rules system - Something like Savage Worlds. But that's just me.... :)

Yes, unfortunately.... I stopped posting here some time ago due to the lack of response, and that the RPG table top section seems now to be lumped in with the computer games. RPG.net is the place to be... Pity though, I always thought there would be a decent set of RPG'ers here ready to spill the beans about their old campaigns. - Seem, I was wrong. :(

bth the amount of pnp roleplayers seems fairly small on boards.ie

I think for the type of interaction you're looking for you'd need a group of people regularly playing together, the forum was for example more active when the nwn sessions where going.

As for the table top games, when the reshuffle of the forums happened, it was placed under the roleplaying cat. But its members felt it didn't belong there.

Aye - it's fair enough in a way. As you said, there's not many people that post here unfortunately. But something like RPG.net is an amazing resource - that's where I found most of my Skype players. :)

Ah well, maybe someday boards will fill up a bit regarding RPGs. *fingers crossed*

    Cheers,

    R.

Boards can be good for that as well, there are a number of active posters here. You need only look at the game threads to see it.

I'll admit I've always been somewhat surprised that no one has ever looked to arrange skype or netmeeting sessions here.

For example we typically canvas in strategy for one or two players when starting new civ/diplomacy campaigns. Around boards.ie you really need to do all the grunt work for people and have the table laid out for them before they'll even look to participating in my experience.

    Me too... :(

In all honesty though I didn't have much joy looking for skype gamers on any of the Irish forums. I've tried here on boards a number of times - but no joy. Skype is the only way for me to play these days, as I live out in Kildare.

I guess another reason for it tho', is that people are still unsure about skype, and how a game might actually work. For me it's great! Ans its nearly like having a face to face - you just can't see the person, but all the interactivity is there (Live chat rolling dice, etc.) Plus it's free! :)

and some of us just dont like playing on skype, we did make use of a teamspeak server while running the NWN games which was fun.

I've tried a number of different ways of gaming without face to face, and haven;t really found anything i liked. The loss of body language and atmosphere takes too much away from the experience for me. That said, I live in a place where I can easily find gaming, so I can afford to be picky.

On a more on topic note, I'm quite fond of Dark Heresy - have only played it at cons as of yet, (and one short PbP on another forum), but I quite liked it. To the extent where I'm considering running a con game in it. =)

Yeah, it's whatever you can get your hands really. I'd prefer face to face, but as I live in Kildare it's quite hard to get anything down here.

However, I've ended up with a great bunch of guys for my WFRP game, and I'm just about to run a Vampire Sabbat - so I'm happy. :)
