Simple and Easy to use Video Editing Software

    Hi there...

Like the title says, I'm looking for advice on Video Editing software. I'm looking for something quite basic and very easy to use.

To give some background, we've got a Windows 2000 PC in work, and a Canon 'Mini-Dvd' camera. When video is recorded on the camera, the following is the process they follow :

Finalize the mini-DVD. Insert the mini-DVD into the PC. Run Roxio 'My Dvd' ( that came with the camera ). Import the video from the mini-DVD, edit the video ( i.e. cut out bits that aren't needed etc. ) and then export the video to Mpeg format on the PC.

Now, the person doing this in work has Windows XP at home and uses Microsoft Movie Maker to do the same process. She says Movie Maker is a lot easier to use, especially for someone not used to using a Computer.

So, if it exists, I'm looking for Video Editing software that meets the following criteria :

    1. Must run on Windows 2000
    2. Is as easy to use as Movie Maker
    3. Can import videos from a mini-dvd and export them to mpeg
    4. Is free ( if at all possible ).

Anyone got any suggestions for what software might be out there, or is Roxio MyDvd the best we can do for Windows 2000? Thanks!

    J.

i dont think windows movie maker can import mini-dvd.

Ulead videostudio might be the app you need but its not as easy as windows movie maker

Why do you need to export it as a mpg?

    Hi there,

Thanks for the reply. To be honest, it doesn't have to export to Mpeg exactly, it just needs to export to a format that can be easily read and viewed on the majority of PCs. I reckon mpeg matches that description, but any format that can be viewed by Media Player would work really...

I'll have to double check as to whether Movie Maker can import from the mini-Dvd, that's what I thought I was told but I'll check to make sure.

I'll have a look at Videostudio, thanks!
