My illiterate 360

My xbox 360 cannot read any of the discs I put in it. It gets to the dashboard no bother but when I try to play anything, it gets part the way in and then freezes and the screen pixelates.

It started doing this last week so now I'm mulling over whether to send it back to microsoft (and wait for it to be shipped, repaired and shipped back) or shell out some of my own cash to get the laser (or whatevers messed up in it) repaired.
Anybody got any recommendations for a repair centre and also a rough price if you might have that info.

Your probably a few days away from a RRoD. The pixelating or checkerboard is a classic sign.

    Off to MS with it.

if you can stand to live without it for a few weeks and it's still in warranty, I'd ship it off to MS. It's free and fairly painless.

I used console repairs ireland when my wii broke.. cost 50eur to fix, took about a week. Haven't brought own xbox to them when it rrod (i used the MS one), but when i was dropping off the wii and collecting it the hallway was full of repaired xboxes, so id imagine they can fix it

    Thanks for the replies.

I'll take a look at getting it repaired from the link provided.
I figure the RROD is only a matter of time for the xbox, had to send it over to MS for that very reason 18 months ago so it may be time for round 2 with the MS techs.

Nothing to worry about. Something most 360 owners are well used to.
