    Very annoyed!

Rights agreements mean that our 4oD service is only available in the UK. Even if you are a citizen of the UK you cannot access the service from abroad.

Was this a cost cut measure by channel 4?

I was going to suggest what Chad ghostal posted also.
    I suspect its that.

The BBC did the same (just this last few weeks) for example, for their Torchwood Radio plays that they now only allow British users to download for free.
(I still got them anyway LOL)

Annoying, anyway around this or is it banned talk?

Talk of that kind in open on boards.ie is understandably frowned upon.

I'm pretty sure it isn't actually. The discussion of downloading copyright material is a no-go but if you pop over to the computers forum you'll find lots of help on proxy servers.

It is here.. see out charter:
    • While we're on the subject, discussing how to bypass geographical limitations to watch streaming content is also a no-no (i.e. how to watch Hulu outside the US)

Channel4 said that they've moved over to a browser-based player that will work on mac/linux. Problem is that some of their shows are only licensed for the UK. For some reason they are unable to allow the other shows be viewed by Irish people.

Hmmm...I don't see anything wrong with that one but if you do then it's best that you report it (using the report button).

.......it won't play Alan Carr's Chatty Man.......

It's part of Channel 4's "Doing you a BIG favour" scheme. Trust me.
